Maybe This Article Explains Why Tebow Keeps Winning
We profiled the agile Broncos juggernaut back in ‘09, when the NFL was skeptical he’d make a “good” quarterback, let alone professionally play the position at all. Fast forward to last night’s Broncos v. Bears game: He messed up big time, and yet, by the grace of God, his team was victorious. Maybe this outcome has nothing to do with skill, but faith. At least that’s what we concluded after re-reading this GQ article of yore:

He’s a quarterback. He knows it. If anyone’s going to question it, it’s going to be other people—people who mistake Tim Tebow for a jock instead of an influencer, a Christian missionary trying to send a broader message through the medium of America’s most popular game.
“My whole life, my dream has been to be a quarterback,” Tebow’s saying, his voice firm and loud as he paces the stage of this darkened arena in Jacksonville, Florida, a microphone in his hands. “And one day, I want to be a quarterback in the NFL. But ever since I was young, people have said, ‘You know what? You might be a better linebacker. You might be a better running back or tight end.’ “
It’s a humid evening in May. Four months ago, Tebow led the Florida Gators to their second national championship in three years, which explains why this Night of Champions, a $15-a-head “outreach event” for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, has drawn a crowd of 6,200. The phones and cameras of the congregants spark and pop to capture his image. Tebow is six feet three and 245 pounds, all thick polygons and smooth flat planes and inescapable corn-fed handsomeness. He’s wearing a billowy white shirt and loose-fitting jeans that somehow only underscore the solidity of his bulk, like a tarpaulin draped over a concrete pylon. You can see why coaches have always wanted to deploy his body as a battering ram.
But one day, when he was 11, his coach told him to get down on one knee and throw the football as far as he could. It was just an exercise, a drill to build his upper-body muscles. He was a linebacker then. But Tebow did as he was asked. He got down on one knee. He gripped the ball with his left hand and reared back. He swiveled his hips and swung his chest. He released the ball with a slightly sidearm motion, yet the ball flew far and true. His coach watched it go and go—thirty yards, clear downfield. After that, every other position was inferior from Tebow’s point of view, because no other position gave him the control that quarterback did. He had the ball in his hands on every play. And Tim Tebow wants the ball.

10 Encouraging Words for Saturday
1. God is in control. He is sovereign even in our pain, even in our troubles. Through it all, his love is transforming us, perfecting us, completing us.
James 1:2-4Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
2.There is a process at work in the life of every believer. We are being changed into his likeness, but it cannot happen overnight. Give God time to produce his ever-increasing glory in you.
2 Corinthians 3:18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
3. Do you feel forsaken? Perhaps you’ve just forgotten: God is able … he will supply. Seek him daily and trust him to provide everything you need.
Psalm 9:10Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
4. We are called to go—go into the world. God tells us to be courageous as we face the dangers and the battles of life. We may not always travel in safe territory, but we’ll never be alone. God, our Salvation, is with us.
Joshua 1:9Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
5. Too often we feel awkward and unlovely, but in God’s eyes, he is making us beautiful.
Ecclesiastes 3:11He has made everything beautiful in its time.
6.Just as a hammer and high heat are used to forge instruments of iron, God uses trials to develop genuine faith and strength of character in us.
1 Peter 1:6-7In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
7.God is faithful. He always provides a way of escape. When tempted, your job is not to bear up under the weight of temptation, but rather, to look for the escape route God has already provided.
1 Corinthians 10:13No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
8.The happiest Christians are those who have found the joy of serving others. The quickest way to end a pity party is to find someone who needs your help.
Mark 8:34-35If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.
9.If today you can’t find a reason to smile, take some time to focus on the lighter side of life, enjoy your friends, watch a comedy, read the funnies, or spend time with children. Look for ways to include laughter in each day.
Proverbs 17:22A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.
10.Although you may be suffering right now, it’s only temporary. God, who is infinitely wise and skilled, knows just how to care for you. Trust that he is shaping you into someone beautiful, honorable, and good—able to reflect his glory.
Romans 8:18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Notes

victory

So here’s the thing…

I used to be in a place that involved much agony, fear, pain, and selfish ambition. Instead of turning to the book of truth and life I continued living by my own understanding. It took a toll on my body and my mind. It got to a point where not only was it affecting myself but the people around me. My loved ones stuck my-side the whole entire time, through late night calls, daytime calls, anytime really. They’d stay on the phone w my for hours just praying and being. I almost gave up hope and the enemy almost had his way, but prayer always prevails.

Continually I’d pray for a group somehow come into my life, I wanted a community “ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find”. I heard about this girls group and was continually invited and always wanted to go, but work seemed to be taking up that slot, until 1 fancy wednesday I got off work early! So I  gathered up as much gusto as I could, grabbed the directions, and headed out. My nerves were going, unsure of how everything would go, but as soon as I walked through the door, there was a warm, spice smelling home (probably because of the candles, but still, ambiance!-for any of you who know me, I’m all about nice smelling things, so already it was comforting). I got to the girls and immediately was taken in, no judgement, just down to earth genuine people. It was awesome. As the night began to ware down, the burden on my heart came on heavy too. I had a panic attack the night before and I was just tired, worn, and frustrated. I figured what did I have to lose if I told these girls who I barely knew what was going on, but how? God’s always got a plan, working in mysterious ways. We ended up forming a circle and just praying for whoever wanted or needed it. Almost wrapping it up completely I blurt out .. “I could use some prayer..” And i began to tell them how fear, anxiety, and panic was ruling my life. This girl speaks up and tells me she’s been through a similar situation, ‘Okay so I’m not crazy..or the only one!’ Which was awesome, but also cool to ask about it. Just more confirmation God does exist and He’s always watching over us. No more questions asked, the hands begin to lay on me, &words of encouragement and healing are being prayed. No I don’t feel special tingles or feel all peppy afterwards, but as the prayers are finished I feel refreshed and so grateful not only do I have 1, but a whole group of girls who are going to stick by my-side. Needless to say, I haven’t had a panic attack since.. Praise God!!

This is not a “story” with magical powers or immediate results. As my dad likes to say, “No pain, no gain.” Imagine waking up in the morning and all you can think about is “Am I going to die today and how” That’s not living at all, and it sucks! I began to convince myself I was allergic to so many different types of food, that I ate just fine throughout my life before, but for some reason I couldn’t eat now(then). So I’d be fearful of eating, which is a JOKE. If any of you know me, you know I LOVE food. You might think, how could something so powerful just stand there and watch. It’s hard to explain, especially because it’s truly a personal experience. But what I do stand firmly by is without the reality check that my own understanding was not leading to anything good, I wouldn’t get to experience the endless amount of love, joy, peace, EVEN when I’m struggling through out the day. Of course there are days I feel discouraged and my mind is going a million miles a second (over-exaggerated) but knowing I can give it up to the big guy up there, i’d say it takes some weight off. Knowing He’s got it & I no longer have to take control of the situation because I know doors will begin to open or close, as they already have. He’s got a plan, a good one too. I’m no longer taken captive by fear, for my father, my God, my redeemer is sovereign and He’s not going anywhere.

“God is more involved in your life than you are. You have to live your life one day at a time, but God, who exists outside of time, can read the book of your life at any rate He wishes. He has an eternity to dwell on any one moment of your life. He didn’t just pay for your sins, He paid the price to write Himself into your story. And now that He has, who knows what might happen next?”- Unka Glen

“…I will free you from their bondage and I will rescue you with an outstretched arm…” (Exodus 6:6, AMP). No matter what’s going on in your life, no matter how somebody is treating you, God has a plan to free you from everything that would try to hold you back. He wants to rescue you and show you His mighty hand of favor and blessing. One translation says “with special and vigorous action.” What does that mean? That means, if you will stay in faith even in the difficult times, God is going to show up with explosive blessings. He is going to bring supernatural turnaround, supernatural breakthroughs, supernatural promotion, and supernatural deliverance.
God is saying, “I’m going to free you from the bondage of poverty and lack. I’m going to free you from the burden of depression and discouragement. I’m going to free you from every addiction, every bad habit.”
You don’t have to live in bondage to anything any longer! God’s arm of deliverance is outstretched toward you. He is setting you free from every bondage so that you can live the life of victory He has in store for you!

If I have learned but one thing in all my experiences, and I know this may sound corny, it is that Love is the most powerful force in existence.  I try always to come from a place of love, and to eschew negativity.  Because negativity is heavy, it holds you down, keeps you in place.  Love, I see as a source of movement, because, like he says above, it frees you.
